Wood win for BDP in Shetland
November 2008

There aren’t any trees on Shetland, but that didn’t stop BDP’s timber-clad Shetland Museum and Archives building taking overall gold in this year’s Wood Awards.
The harbourside museum in Lerwick (see RIBAJ building study, May 07) also won the ‘commercial and public access’ category of the most comprehensive awards scheme yet.
BDP architect Angus Kerr said: ‘We are extremely proud to have won against such fantastic competition. BDP champion the use of wood in their projects as a sustainable alternative to many modern materials, and Shetland Museum is a fine example of its use in an innovative and successful way.’
