The Civic Trust Awards shortlist has brought out the best and worthiest buildings and projects.
Fifty two schemes shortlisted this week are all to be recognized for their contribution to local community and place. They include very different approaches to building community and spending a budget including Stanton William’s Hackney Marshes Centre and its Sainsbury Laboratory (Cambridge) at either end of the spectrum. Star architecture has been modestly applied to shopping in the form of Hopkins’ Arc and the Apex in Bury St Edmunds and a continuing tradition of local authority architecture is highlighted by Hampshire County Council’s Forest Special School.
