Italian fashion label, Benetton, launched an international architecture competition for two multi-storey retail and office buildings in Iran’s capital, Tehran. The mission: To ‘create a fresh, intense and relevant design in Iran’.
Benetton’s two 12-storey buildings will occupy two separate 1,500sq m sites in the city. Both will have four floors underground, while the ground and first floor levels will be divided into three commercial units. The remaining space will be for offices and flats.
The contest was the latest high-profile link-up between the worlds of fashion and architecture, including Zaha Hadid’s mobile pavilion for Chanel.
Grzegorz Witold Woronowicz has been announced the winner of Project A, and Yana Radera for Project B. The winners were picked by a jury headed by French architect Odile Decq, who has worked in Morocco, Turkey and Algeria. The winning entry for each building will be awarded a prize of €20,000.
