Geoff Manaugh:
The Building Blog Book

Chronicle Books £29.95 PB
Manaugh started his blog in 2004, and now we have the book. Collating the author’s thinking on everything from Christopher Wren to Christianity to Koolhaas, the blog is an eclectic cornucopia of modern thoughts on building and architecture. CK

Nikolaus Pevsner:
An Outline of European Architecture, new edition

Thames & Hudson, £28 HB
The classic work from 1943, written when Pevsner was fire-watching in the Blitz. Now in large format new edition with new photography and a postscript on the modern movement by Michael Forsyth. A treasure. HP

Artists’ Studios, MJ Long

Black Dog Publishing £25 HB
Long’s personal account of the numerous studios built by Sandy Wilson between 1975 and 2005 for the artists and friends that formed his core social circle. A worthy study of the architect’s contribution to a typology whose richness is founded in the likes of Webb, Shaw and Voysey. CK
